I Know...You Know...Im Not Tellin the Truth

This post is all about informing and educating everyone is America about the greatest thing to be on television since Mash.  And that is the show Psych.  For everyone that already watched Psych, well done we can now be best friends.  If you do not watch this show, for shame, and you know that feeling of something missing in your life? That feeling is Psych and it will fill that void.

This show is on USA on Wednesday's, and it is something I look forward to every week, pretty much right when one episode ends I am looking for the new one to start, it makes a week feel so long.

Now for you uneducated and uninformed audience out there, let me break it down for you.  This show is hilarious, that's all I need to say.  But I will start with the basics so we do not miss anything and you can see the hilarity in all its glory.  The show is about a psychic detective named Shawn and his best friend Burton Guster, or Gus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQOpiXN4sS8.  Shawn is not really psychic but because of his fathers persistence to make him notice everything, he uses his heightened senses to fool the police into believing he is psychic.  Every episode is Shawn and Gus solving a crime that for some reason stump the detectives Carlton Lassiter and the beautiful Juliette O'Hara.  The crimes that they solve range from ring theft to bank robberies and as bad as murder.  And one of the funniest parts of every episode is that Shawn is inevitably wrong about something during the case, and it is comedic because he is always so sure of himself.  So it almost seems like the episodes starts over in the middle when Shawn accuses the wrong person.

The characters in the show really make it as good and hilarious as it is.

Shawn Spencer-A hyper observant, crass, often rude, but also caring and very loyal to his friends.  As the main character of the show you get to know Shawn the best out of all other people.  He is extremely confident in all aspects of his life but especially his detective skills.  Shawn has a very off and on again relationship with his father because I do not think Shawn ever forgave his father for his different upbringing.

Burton "Insert Nickname Here" Guster-Gus may be almost the complete opposite personality wise of Shawn.  He really does not like to joke around to much and lives a very conservative lifestyle as opposed to Shawn who is very liberal.  Gus does not like to spend money, but does love food... I mean snacks.  He also has the tendency to date murderers, so you could say he has bad taste in women as well.  Shawn also has a different nickname for Gus in just about every episode, except for one.  Here is just a taste of some of the greatest ones Link

Carlton "Lassie" Lassiter-May be the most by the book police officer...ever.  Does not really believe that Shawn is psychic and not a fan of Shawn's in general.  The show leads you to believe that Lassie is a very competent detective but he always needs help with a case every week.  He has a very short temper and is never very far from drawing his gun and shooting anything that moves.

Juliette O'Hara-Beautiful, smart, very good detective, and did I mention gorgeous?  Jules is a little more liberal with her interpretation of the law that Lassie, and she actually believes in Shawn and his gift,.  She is a very good compliment to Lassiter, balancing his hard-nosed tactics with gentler ones.

Henry Spencer-Shawn's father and at one time a very good detective in his own right.  Obviously wanted Shawn to become a cop too, hence the teaching his observational skills.  But because of this does not really get along very well with Shawn, but still reluctantly gives him advice when Shawn comes looking for it.

So there you go now you have the basics about the best show in the world...ever.  So if you have time, or even if you dont, sit down and watch Psych.  You will thank me later

Its That Time of Year Again

Well guess what everybody, its March Madness!!! Probably my favorite time of year, because there is basketball on pretty much all the time, and a obsessed sports fan I am in heaven.  There is games on 4 different channels, and luckily i have them all.

So as far as the seeding is concerned, I dont think there was really any big surprises.  I think there was a slight ruffle when Gonzaga went from probably being the number one overall seed last week to the last number one seed.  It was a little surprising to me to see Missouri as a nine seed, but I really didnt get to see them play at all this year.  St Louis being a four seed, could lead to a first round loss.  I am not sure they are as good as their seeding announces.  The other seeding that puzzles me is putting no one from the Pac-12 is lower than a six seed, and putting Oregon, the number 25 team in the country as a twelve seed.  This is pretty much a punch in the face for the Pac-12 showing no respect.  I think other than that the seeding was very well done by the selection committee.

Now we are going to look at some of my big upsets of the year.  The first and foremost is I have Gonzaga losing in the second round to Pittsburgh.  I think Gonzaga is the most overrated team of the year.  Everyone talks about how they went undefeated in their conference, but that is because they play in the WCC, a very weak conference.  And Pittsburgh coming from the Big East is tough and physical and very talented so I think they will upset the Zags in the "Thrifty Thirty-Two" as I am calling it.  Another upset I have is the 11 seed Minnesota Golden Gophers beating the Bruins of UCLA.  Minnesota is a very athletic team and very big and UCLA lost one of their top scorers in Jordan Adams.  In the reversal I have a Pac-12 team in California(12 seed) upsetting the Running Rebels out of UNLV, a five seed.  It always scares me when a mid major is pitted against a Big 6 team.  Sometimes the physicality and talent can be overwhelming.  The other big upset that I have is Iowa State a ten seed beating Notre Dame, a five seed.  I like how physical the Cyclones play and they have some very talented big men.  I have not seen Notre Dame play but they have not played well the last month of the year.

Now for my Final Four picks.  Coming out of the Midwest bracket I have......the number one overall seed the Louisville Cardinals.  The Cards play great defense, they deflect almost every pass, and probably lead the nation in steals.  They were the best team in the Big East, the toughest conference in the country.  They definitely deserved to be the number one overall seed.
Now coming out of the West bracket I have .......the Badgers from Wisconsin.  The Badgers play Bo Ryan basketball, they play slow, use the shot clock until they get a good shot.  They rebound well and play very fundamental basketball.  And I think this style of play will frustrate all of their opponents. As a five seed, they are the highest seed I have left in the tournament.
And coming out of the South bracket........the Georgetown Hoyas.  I think that the Hoyas are one of the most exciting teams to watch in the country.  They play great defense and get up and down the floor better than almost anyone.  They are battle tested, they also come from the Big East, so they go up against the best talent in the country.
And four my last team in the finals I have.......the Hoosiers of Indiana.  The Hoosiers spent the most time as the number one team this season, and they deserved it.  They have one of the best individual defenders in the country in Victor Oladipo and my player of the year Cody Zeller.  Indiana has been down in the dumps the last few years so they deserve this.

In the national championship game I have two teams that are very familiar with each other, since they come from the same conference.  The Louisville Cardinals and the Georgetown Hoyas.  The Hoyas won the only meeting the two teams had this year in a very tight battle.  And I think they will pull it off again.

So your national champions for the 2013 college basketball season is the Georgetown Hoyas!!!  Hopefully I am right again like I was last year so I can see a very low number next to my bracket on ESPN.

Seeing Into the Future

On March fifth Von Miller, linebacker for the Denver Broncos, guaranteed that his team would win the Super Bowl next year.  This came on the heels of his little cousin getting into a car accident a week ago and coming out of his coma just a few days ago.  Miller said he is inspired because of what his cousin went through in the last week, so he was motivated to make some predictions about next year.

I think it is quite funny when professional athletes make predictions, because it always becomes a bigger story than it should, and usually is not right, considering a lot can change from now til next February.  But Vegas seems to agree with Miller, since it has the Broncos as a 7-1 favorites to win, right behind the Patriots and the 49ers.  When athletes make predictions the media blows it way out of proportion, saying they are cocky and brash, when I think every athlete guarantees they are going to win but some say it to the media and some do not, we only hear about the ones who speak out loud.  I think it is a good thing, it can motivate other teams to do their best as well as the team of the player who makes the prediction.  Solution, one player from every team should say they are going to win the Super Bowl, then all chaos would ensure!

Now I do not think the Broncos will win the Super Bowl but it would not surprise me if they did.  The offense is set to make another run for the playoffs.  They have one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever played the game in Peyton Manning.  But they are going to need Manning to stay healthy and perform just as well as he did in 2012 when he won the Comeback Player of the Year.  At running back they played a plethora of people last year.  Willis McGahee started the year and did a great job until he hurt his knee on a run.  Then they used a committee of backs until they activated Knowshon Moreno and he ended the year on a tear, as shown by the number of fantasy points he got for my team. The receivers may be one of the deepest set of wide outs in the league with Eric Decker and Demaryius Thomas as starters.  They did an amazing job last year catching passes from Manning.

The defense could be the question mark heading into this off season for the Broncos.  Other than Elvis Dumervil, they really could not put much pressure on the quarterback with there front line.  The Broncos have stocked the linebacker core with great players, such as the above forecaster Von Miller who registered 18.5 sacks all by himself.  Also Wesley Woodyard is a great player that can rush the quarterback from the linebacker position.  I think the real problem lies in the secondary, where their best player is Champ Bailey and he is "seasoned" at the age of 34.  And their other players are not as talented as a Super Bowl team should have, so this could be addressed in free agency or in the draft.  I think if the Broncos could find a defensive lineman or two and a few defensive backs, they could be a real contender in the playoffs next year.      But like I said you never know whats going to happen even in the next few months.

Here is a highlight video from last year of the Broncos, see if they are Super Bowl worthy in 2014.

Older Vs. New

This year has been deemed a battle of the greats in golf.  Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, the two best players in the sport, going at it almost every week, have not really lived up to the hype quite yet.  McIlroy has yet to make a cut in a tournament, and Tiger has won an event already but Rory was not in the field that week.

Despite what happened to Tiger a couple years ago, he is still one of the best, and easily the funnest golfer to watch.  Rory is quickly ascending into that category as well, with his easy swing and happy demeanor on the course he will soon want to be watched by everyone... well not everyone, but golf fans anyway.  Take the match play that occurred at the end of February.  Both Woods and McIlroy were ousted in the first round by their perspective opponents, and the tournament changed from both a television and live point of view.  Myself I find that golf tournaments are not as fun to watch on television when Tiger is not in the field or not close enough to the leader that he is on TV.  His charisma and talent make it so much funner to watch, and all the flashbacks and reminiscing the announcers do about Tigers' younger days is really fun.  For the people actually at the golf course to watch and for the golf course itself, it hurts attendance when Woods is not in the field.  If you have seen the crowds that he draws at every tournament, the people in charge of the course are probably very upset if Tiger misses the cut or goes home early.

The same is becoming true for young Rory McIlroy.  He may not be as emotional or intense as Tiger, the talent is undeniable, I mean he isnt the number one player in the world for no reason.  Unfortunately he has has not had the best start to 2013 but since Rory has only played in four tournaments so far this year I am not worried about him at all.

Luckily for everyone Woods and McIlroy get along well together so there is no animosity when they play on the course together.  This commercial says it all I think.
